The Home Straight
1st March 2018- I officially move to Orlando this month! I am on the home straight, the Disney adventure is all but ready to start and I for one can not wait to escape the UK and this crazy snow and icy weather!
Alright Elsa, playtime is over, please make this cold weather stop! The cold really does bother me unlike you!
As it stands, I currently only have 9 days left in the UK; I am finally in single digits. This wait has been an interesting one, when you get a date you're full of excitement because you have the knowledge that one day in the future you're going to be working at Disney World. But then the magic fades away slightly in the middle; the wait is not fun, there is nothing to do that is related to you starting your CRP for a hell of a long time, well nothing major anyway, you can pass time buy buying summer clothes, writing your bucket list, but in all honesty its a long wait.
And then it hits you. That the move is imminent. I officially left work here in the UK as of yesterday and its all systems go now, you realise that you need to see a hell of a lot of people before you set off on your adventure, that you've got so much packing to do and there's probably a few boring last minute errands that you need to do. It's crazy, I honestly don't have a day to myself to chill, nap and drink copious amounts of tea between now and next Saturday when I board my flight. But it's nice in a sense, it makes time move fast and you realise that a hell of a lot of people are going to miss you whilst you are away.
Since I last updated this blog when I was standing at 30 days to go, I have had my US visa approved so I can legally reside and work in the country, I have brought medical insurance (probably the most stressful and confusing thing you could ever seek to buy!) and I have made my housing preferences with Disney. Luckily Disney housing allowed us to possibly link up with up to 5 other people on our arrival date to live with, we were slightly concerned before that we were (myself, another Lauren and Alice) were not going to be able to room together. But its all fine! Disney pulled through on this one and because of this we also requested to live with Sammy, another girl from the UK! So now we just wait until we find out next week what apartment complex we are going to live in!
I honestly can not wait to move now, I started my CRP journey over a year ago now when I sent my application off in January 2017, now the end of the waiting is so so close, I just want to hop on that plane now and start. Yes, I am super excited, and there is no doubt in my mind that I'm going to miss my family and will probably feel homesick every now and again, but my family will always be there for me, its not like we're a million miles away, and technology these days like facetime and skype allow you to stay in contact super easy, just leaving my family at the airport may be mixture of emotions.
This may be the last check into this blog in the UK, the next post may well be from sunny Florida. It's time to spend valuable time with those closest to me and enjoy every moment of this limited time.
Until next time! 9 days to go! x
