T Minus 30 Days!

The last time I checked in with you all and posted my most recent update was when I had 10 weeks to go until I depart for Florida! Now, here I am, only 30 days left to go until I board my plane ready to start a year long adventure working for the Walt Disney Company. That’s just one whole month left in the UK; one month left of drinking proper tea, one month left of sleeping in a double bed (which I will miss so much!) and just one month left with my family and friends here in the UK!

Luckily, a bit more has been happening since I last posted on here. A couple of weeks ago our arrival group finally received our visa petition from Disney, which meant that Disney have expressed their need for us to work for them and have told the government/immigration services that we will need to apply for our Q1 visa, so we can work and reside in the US. However, receiving this was the start of a nearly 2-hour application form that must be completed before you are able to attend your US embassy to receive your visa. This application required everything from your passport details, to how many times you’ve visited the USA and everything in between. It is 2 hours of my life that I’ll never get back, but it was completely necessary for me to complete, without completing the extremely long application I would not be able to receive my visa!

Anyway, after completing this application I booked my US embassy visa appointment! So, I will be heading down to London on the 14th February for my visa interview, fingers and toes crossed it will be approved and I will get my visa!

We also received our new hire paperwork to complete; this involved reading pages upon pages of booklets by Disney and acknowledging that we will abide by what is stated. It also contained information about paying taxes, and ultimately you are saying that you will be providing legitimate identification and proof that you are able to work for the Walt Disney company. That’s the end of all the ‘fun’ stuff that I have done in the past couple of weeks, its all one step closer to moving!

And on the non-Disney side of things I have just under 3 weeks left of work before I say my goodbyes, which is crazy! I have also recently visited York with my mum which was a lovely and relaxing break away and quality mother and daughter time, and as of yesterday I made a trip to London with my dad to visit some museums and also to watch The Book Of Mormon which was ridiculously hilarious and wrong on so many levels, it pushed the boundaries for sure but oh my gosh I have never laughed so much, so if you can handle some very dark humour coupled with some fantastic musical numbers then I highly recommend!

I have also started to plan days out with my family and friends before I leave, which will involve a trip to the zoo to see the otters because they are my FAVOURITE and these meet ups involve a lot of food which I’m happy about!

But seriously though, it’s crazy to think that I’m now a month away from my big move, when I found out my date in August 2017 it was over 200 days away, and now its just around the corner, and honestly, I feel so unprepared, I mean how can you possibly prepare yourself for moving 4000 miles away from home, from your safety net of your family. But at the same time, I can not wait, I never moved away from home for university and I feel now is time to finally leave and have some more independence, like I say nothing can fully prepare you for the move as it is nerve wrecking, but the excitement is certainly larger than the nerves, but that could possibly change when I say my final goodbyes at the airport though!

For now, that is all I must update you on, now the departure date from the UK is looming closer, I just want to be in Orlando already, but not long left now!

Until next time!
