Missing In Action
Oh hello there! Missed me? I sure have missed writing this blog! Yes I’ve been missing in action for a little while but I’m back now after a 2 month break and hopefully I’ll be sticking around to provide more insight on my CRP adventures and to also document my adventures for myself as a little memory space.
Well, today marks the 10 week mark. 10 weeks until I board my one way flight to Orlando. 70 whole days left in the UK. And honestly it’s approaching a little too quickly. When I got my acceptance date back in August this year, it was over 200 days until my departure, but now it’s only 70 days to go I do feel somewhat unprepared for what is about to unfold in the near future. 2018 is only a matter of days away, and I feel that the prospect of starting the CRP will become even more real when the new year starts. It’s exciting yet stressful at the same time, moving your life to another country isn’t easy. Leaving your family, friends, work, security blanket of your home behind and stepping into the unknowing half way around the world is daunting, but the knowledge of working in Walt Disney World for an entire year makes those worries disappear.
There’s not been many updates regarding the CRP at this moment in time; I’m waiting now for my visa petition to come through, for my visa appointment and then to choose housing when the time comes closer to my arrival date! It’s honestly just a waiting game as I wrote in one of my past blogs. When you start off on this massive journey from the moment you submit your application you prepare yourself for a wait, whether it’s waiting to hear back from interviews or waiting to start the Cultural Representative program, it’s a hell of a lot of waiting, I feel like I’ve become a pro at waiting!
It’s been such a long wait that people who applied in the summer application round (the round after I went through) have been accepted and have received dates for next year, it’s crazy and congratulations to everyone who got dates and to all my future fellow merchies who I will meet next year! And now the January 2018 application round is here, which means it’s been nearly a year since I sent my application off to Yummy Jobs and started this adventure. Like many people who have only applied the once, I never thought I’d even get a pre-screen on my first application, never mind actually being accepted into the program in my preferred role of merchandising. It sounds cliché but it is a dream come true. If you’re reading this and are applying this application round, be yourself, have faith in your abilities and good luck!
For me, I’ve just been preparing myself for a year in Florida. Christmas has been and gone, which was just small and lovely spent with my close family, eating some amazing food including my grandparents amazing roast and involved numerous games of Cards Against Humanity which my nan won haha! I have started and probably brought way too many clothes and shoes to take with me already, I’ve brought a new shiny suitcase, I’ve started to work out all the adult things like ‘what am I going to do with my car’, how much money I need to save and all the things I pay for that need to be cancelled. It’s super boring but it all needs to be done ahead of my departure!
On a more exciting note, I have booked to go to York for a few days with my Mum for mother/daughter time before I move to Florida and myself & my dad have booked to see The Book Of Mormon in London too! So a couple of exciting things are coming up to help with the waiting game and to spend those last quality days with the family!
I hope the next update is a little bit more exciting, and has a little bit more content regarding the Cultural Representative Program, but for now, a little catch up will suffice!
The adventure is starting soon, but I’ve still got time for some fun in the rainy UK before I leave!
Until next time! x

If cinders can wait for her Prince Charming to arrive, I can survive the 70 day wait!
