A Catch Up!
So it’s been over 2 months since I received that amazing congratulations email and accepted my offer! In between working full time and a trip to Disneyland Paris I have sorted some things out for the CRP. Take this post as a little catch up about what’s being going on in my life for the past couple of months!
So this is what I've done so far!
1. Accepted my offer! I know this comes across as being the most obvious thing I've done, but it's something you have to do! I read through my offer letter, checked the arrival date and role was suitable for me and accepted my offer. Remember, if the dates aren't suitable for you, or if the offer was in a role that you didn’t want then you have 30 days to think about it and you can reject/decline your offer if you wish.
2. Paid the program fees! It’s time to cough up some of your lovely cash. Paying the program fee guarantees your place on the program, your place in housing and pays for the hosting events that will be put on by Disney in the first few days if your arrival into the US. The program fee that I paid was $150 or £120, but this is subject to change. This fee is paid directly to Disney DORMS who are responsible for your Disney housing whilst on the program!
3. Booked my flight! This was the biggest expense that I have paid so far, so be prepared. Flight prices differ depending on who you fly with, the time of year you fly and what airport you fly from so it’s always good to do a bit of research before booking; you don’t want to pay more than you have to! I managed to get a flight for around £300 through STA Travel (but traveling via Virgin Atlantic), STA are recommended by Yummy Jobs as they do discount flights for under 26’s, I’d check them out even if you don’t end booking through them just to compare flight prices.
4. Booked a Disney hotel! This is the most recent thing I have done, and I actually feel like everything is coming together now I have booked a hotel for the couple of days before I shall check into Disney housing! Myself, Alice and Lauren have booked ourselves two nights at the Art of Animation resort and I can't wait to go back to this resort! I stayed there last year on holiday and it was amazing, the theming of the resort is incredible and I can’t wait to eat the cheesy pesto garlic bread again! *Insert heart eyes emoji*
5. Sent off and paid for my DBS check: a week or so after paying your program fees and accepting your place on the CRP Yummy Jobs will get in touch regarding the payment and completion of your DBS check. It costs £80 for the DBS, to which you must complete for the terms of your employment to ensure you have no criminal charges against you that would stop you from working at Disney, and to also prove that you are who you say to are! You will then be sent an application form to complete and return via post to Yummy Jobs, it’s pretty straight forward to complete! You'll then get your DBS back 4-8 weeks before you start your program!
That’s all that’s been happening in the admin/boring CRP side of life, the stuff that everyone has to book to get out to Florida to start their CRP. And because I am a super keen Disney bean and I love breakfast food, I have managed to book our arrival group character breakfast at Cafe May Cafe for Minnie's Beach Bash Breakfast!! We are going to meet the fab five in their beach outfits whilst chowing down on Mickey waffles; what could be a more perfect way to break the ice with the arrival group!
I have also said my goodbyes to CRP friends the past few months. Both Cameron and Hollie, who are part of our small group of CRP friends have already started their programs in August and September retrospectively, I can’t wait to be reunited with them both in March it feels like they’ve been gone for ages!
Not forgetting I recently have been on a trip to Disneyland Paris with Alice and Chloe,we needed a Disney fix and it was an amazing few days with the best rollercoaster even though it was FREEZING COLD! I am going to be writing a blog post all about the trip very soon so hang tight for that one!
Last week, I said goodbye to other of my closest friends, Anna, who starts her program next week! We went out for food and drinks and Anna surprised myself, Alice and Chloe with a booking for an escape room, it didn’t ruin our friendship and we managed to escape with 52 seconds to spare!! Also, just a side note, Chloe unfortunately had to decline her CRP place due to her life in the UK changing, as after all you’re on the waitlist for a long time your life changes whilst you wait for the mouse, to which myself and everyone in our group completely understands. She's bossing at life at the moment and the CRP wouldn’t help her future plans, to which I wish her all the best in her endeavours! She’s coming out on holiday to see us all next year anyway haha.
I have started buying a load of summer clothes to take with me next year; my bank balance certainly hates me right now, but hey my wardrobe looks nice! I have started to buy little bits and pieces for my apartment just to make it homely, like fairy lights because everyone needs a bit of sparkle in their room! I’ve also made a good start on saving by buying one not those smash pots, hopefully it helps me save a few extra pennies, I just need to stop spending money on coffee and food next that’ll help!
Me, Alice and Lauren have already began chatting about the different experiences and places we want to go and visit whilst we're out in Florida. Bucket lists have already started to be written (Alice's food bucket list is amazing, I’m gonna steal it off her, thanks in advance Alice!) and myself and Joseph (who is also on my arrival date!) have made a pact that we are going to visit every Disney hotel lobby in a year, write blog posts and have a few drinks whilst we're there maybe...possibly...definitely will happen!
It’s all starting to get super exciting now, slowly but surely things are starting to fall into place and time is starting to pass by rather quickly!
Only 141 days to go!
Until next time!
Accepting an offer for the CRP requires fantastic time keeping, planning and parting with a lot of money; there are deadlines that you have to meet when you accept your place, Disney aren't going to chase you and neither are Yummy Jobs, so you need to be prepared and act upon any emails you receive usually within a 30 day window unless stated otherwise. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!
